Filters Unlimited 2.0 Tips & Tricks
How to import additional filters
The section "Filter Factory & Freeware Plug-Ins" of our links page
shows the way to several thousands additional filters. You just have
to download all filter packages and import them into Filters Unlimited.
Start with stevesdesktopphotography.com
and download Filter Factory Gallery A-P, each in ZIPed FFL format. Unpack
into a temporary folder and choose "Import..." from Filters Unlimited.
Navigate to the temporary folder where you've unpacked the FFL files
and select those you want to import. You can also press CTRL-A to
select all of them. Press the Import button and you'll see that all
filters you've imported appear in the Filters Unlimited filter browser.
After import you can safely delete the temporary folder. All filters have
been copied into the Filters Unlimited database.
We suggest to create a new database for import and leave the default
Filters Unlimited database untouched. Please have a look at the Filters
Unlimited manual on how to create your own databases. It's very easy.
We've seen Filters Unlimited databases with 2,700 different filters and
more. For copyright reasons we cannot provide prebuilt filter databases,
you have to create your own.
Have fun!
Exploring new features
Hold down the ALT-key while pressing the Apply button to combine multiple filters within Filters Unlimited.
For example: you don't have to leave Filters Unlimited if you first want to adjust colors and then add a frame.
Hold down the CTRL-key to switch the preview between original and filtered image.
Smooth upgrade
You can have both Filters Unlimited 1.0 and 2.0 installed at the same time. They don't interfere and work
independently from each other. The only thing you should have in mind is that you can't use Filters Unlimited 2.0
filters in version 1.0 because of the enhanced file format and functionality. On the other side it's no problem
to use version 1.0 filters in version 2.0 (see next topic).
Lightweight image editing
Filters Unlimited works perfectly together with the worlds most popular freeware image viewer
Irfan View and freeware image viewer
FuturixImager.
